About DEOXY (Ishan)

Background, work, and engineering principles of DEOXY, the online name of software engineer Ishan from Kerala, India.

Who I am

DEOXY is my online name. I'm Ishan, a self-taught software engineer based in Kerala, India. I build web applications, desktop tools, open-source libraries, and small experiments that help me understand a new idea. deoxy.dev is my canonical portfolio and the place where I publish technical writing under the DEOXY name.

My public work spans TypeScript and React applications, native macOS utilities, local-first mobile software, developer infrastructure, and tools for AI-assisted engineering. The projects page links to the source or live product when one is public. The blog contains first-hand implementation notes rather than outsourced or anonymous articles.

How I work

I prefer small systems with explicit constraints. Before adding a dependency or abstraction, I try to identify the behavior the software must make unsurprising. I care about type safety, direct interfaces, focused tests, and details that make a product feel obvious in use. I will choose a plain implementation over an impressive architecture when both solve the same problem.
